New technology and developments that focus on complete workflows in packaging and label markets have been unveiled today by Konica Minolta on its stand (C21/22, Hall 8) at Labelexpo in Brussels, Belgium as it continues its growth path within industrial print markets.

Less than a decade after the technology giant first announced its plans to enter the label-printing market, Konica Minolta is using Labelexpo as a platform to present innovative end-to-end ecosystems to show customers and other showgoers how they can rethink possibilities in digital label and packaging production.

Proud of becoming European market leader and a multi-award winner in digital label press systems, Konica Minolta has joined with partners MGI Digital Technology and other partners to show five running systems on a stand they share.

One of the highlights is Konica Minolta’s AccurioLabel 400 single-pass digital press – launched at the beginning of 2023. Targeting high-volume digital print markets, it prints at speeds of up to 39.9 metres per minute. Benefits include automated colour and density control, running cost reductions and a wider range of application possibilities through the fifth colour station with white toner.

MGI’s JETvarnish 3D Web 400 and Octopus Web machines, together with Konica Minolta’s PKG-1300 – designed for corrugated manufacturers, converters, printers and brand owners looking for short-run digital inkjet box printing – are also being shown.

Another exhibit is Konica Minolta’s AccurioLabel 230 press being configured with Grafisk Maskinfabrik’s (GM) DC330Mini. The setup includes an innovative and state-of-the-art inkjet customisation partnership with Industrial Inkjet Ltd (IIJ). IIJ, which is a recognised global expert in security printing with UV inks, is also showing other reactive inks possibilities.

Comprehensive software suites – including AccurioPro Flux Label Impose and Accurio Pro Dashboard, together with partner solutions displayed on large screens – are part of the spotlight on end-to-end ecosystems all designed to ignite print possibilities for converters. In addition, Konica Minolta’s service capabilities backed by a global network but delivered locally are being showcased.

In 2021 and 2022, Konica Minolta was the leading brand in digital label print systems in Europe with a 25% and 27% market share according to Infosource data. The Konica Minolta toner press family have been developed in partnership with Danish-based Grafisk Maskinfabrik (GM).

“Labelexpo provides us with the perfect opportunity to showcase our extensive end-to-end ecosystems as we continue our transformation journey with customers in a partnership approach,” said Sacha-Vittorio Paolucci, Head of Industrial Print Business Development at Konica Minolta Europe. “Having first launched our products in the digital label market less than eight years ago, we have now sold more than 1,200 systems throughout the world. Digital label production is now a mainstream technology. We want to continue pushing the boundaries and help converters to ignite their printing possibilities.”
