The world is shifting from large data centres to small centres of data everywhere. The explosion of built-in intelligence, hyper-connectivity and data from the edge is reshaping markets, disrupting every industry and transforming how we live and work. In this edge-to-cloud world, the future will belong to the fast. At the HPE Discover More event in Munich from 3 to 4 December 2019(International Congress Center Munich)visitors can see how technology, apps and data from the edge, to the cloud can come together for enterprises to redefine experiences and drive smarter, hyper-efficient operations. In this context Konica Minolta’s Workplace Hub fits ideally: the Workplace Hub ecosystem can be used as cloud and edge computing platform and will be presented at this year’s HPE Discover More event.
Today, digital data management and IT systems are the backbone of every company and its processes. Yet profound changes, such as a steadily increasing flood of data, a mobile and globalised workforce, changing regulations as well as security threats, pose significant challenges for IT departments. This is particularly true for those in SMEs with their usually limited internal and budgetary resources. Dedicated to supporting its customers in the best way possible, Konica Minolta has developed services and solutions designed to simplify their IT and give them back their freedom to focus on business-critical tasks.
For these clients, Konica Minolta is providing a solution that unifies all IT systems and services in one solution – Workplace Hub. It combines the latest software with hardware, security and a full range of services, all within one contract and with a single point of contact. It combines on-premises IT with cloud-based resources. Thanks to the collaboration with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Workplace Hub leverages the powerful HPE ProLiant DL180 Gen10 Servers, enabling Konica Minolta to minimise both risks and costs frequently associated with non-centralised operational models for its customers. This allows businesses to control and optimise their IT spend while enabling them to focus on their core business functions. Managed IT services can also be integrated into this solution, providing IT departments with support where needed. Workplace Hub customers also benefit from Konica Minolta’s MarketPlace: With Konica Minolta MarketPlace, Workplace Hub provides a unified platform, to manage licenses, adding software as well as keeping them up-to-date running on the Workplace Hub. In addition Konica Minolta MarketPlace monitors the used storage for cloud backup ensuring you are only invoiced for what you are really using.
With Workplace Hub, the IT team can ensure it is on top of critical issues such as data storage and security. While staying compliant with legal data security requirements such as the GDPR, users can also increase data encryption levels for added security and decide on the location of storage. Customers can decide the location where files are saved – whether on Konica Minolta’s local file-sharing server or in the Microsoft cloud, on OneDrive, for example. Workplace Hub also provides secure and reliable backup to the Konica Minolta cloud in EU data centres located in Germany, and optionally to Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices. This can be run overnight to avoid disrupting workflows, ensuring that the platform can be easily restored in the shortest possible time in the event of system failure or data loss.
