Totem.com.pl, one of Europe’s largest and most progressive digital printing houses, has underpinned its long-term partnership and commitment to Konica Minolta digital technology with an investment in a third AccurioJet KM-1 inkjet print production system to grow more opportunities in book production.
Improvement efficiencies, highly stable colour reproduction and a fast-return on investment with Konica Minolta’s AccurioJet KM-1 series are among the many compelling reasons why Totem has continued to advance its digital book production and build new business opportunities in Poland and across mainland Europe in partnership with Konica Minolta.
In what is described as the result of a ‘true partnership’, Totem has invested in a KM-1e sheetfed B2+ inkjet digital production press to create even more business possibilities to help gain many new publishers and retain its business advantage in book and other markets. The first AccurioJet was installed in 2018, the second in 2020 where that investment also included a JETvarnish embellishment solution from Konica Minolta partner MGI. The latest AccurioJet KM-1 was installed in April just after Easter.
Totem, top ranked1 amongst Poland’s best printing houses, has developed multi-layering cooperation with Konica Minolta for its print business over the past few years. It has also expanded its operations by opening a new production plant to unfold state-of-the-art digitally printed hardcover book production.
With perfect resolution and stability of colours as well as uncompromised quality achieved with the KM-1 series, Totem.com.pl is using the same technology as offset machines except that it can use a much broader spectrum of media – not only paper, but also different kinds of plastics. One of the applications developed is reprints of old books, manuscripts, antique prints and incunables, thanks to being able to control the whole process.
Digital book production is the big growth trend in the highly competitive book publishing sector, where Totem sees more business opportunities to move offset work to the Konica Minolta AccurioJet KM-1 series.
“As a trendsetter in the world of book production, we are extremely proud of the progress we have made since our original first investment in the AccurioJet KM-1 from Konica Minolta,” said Totem CEO Michal Rejnowski. “It’s continuing an incredible success story as we look forward to a future where these machines create innumerable additional possibilities and open the door for us to gain new publishers, as well as significantly reducing our production costs.
Michal Rejnowski added: “This has been a true partnership. In a team approach, Konica Minolta has listened, come up with some fantastic ideas and really opened our eyes as to the potential of digital production and helped us keep our business advantage in the market.”
Masashi Morii, Head of Centre of Competence KM-1 at Konica Minolta Slovakia, said: “Totem.com.pl is going from strength to strength with its continual technology advances realised through our AccurioJet KM-1 series. This third investment demonstrates how, more than ever, inkjet and complete end-to-end digitized print production are growth engines for the entire printing industry.”
Mateusz Wozniak, Production Printing Sales Director at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Polska, added: “Continuing to work in close partnership, we will help Totem.com.pl to ignite even more business opportunities and push the power of digital print, which has endless possibilities, particularly in growth markets such as book publishing."
