Konica Minolta’s AccurioJet KM-1e speaks volumes for Compos Center

Langenhagen, Germany | 25 January 2023

A strategic move to drive digital transformation with an investment in Konica Minolta’s AccurioJet KM-1e has brought additional cost benefits and new business opportunities for Compos Center in Lomazzo, Italy.

Dubbed the “Swiss army knife” of printing because it has so many uses, Konica Minolta’s award-winning LED UV inkjet sheetfed digital production press is replacing two redundant digital machines and has paved the way for a business partnership with a nearby litho printer in Como. With the benefit of the AccurioJet KM-1e’s 3,000 sheet/hr production capacity, Compos Center has taken on offset work from its neighbour and is providing reciprocal printing capabilities in return.

Already an established customer with an AccurioPress 6100, Compos Center’s AccurioJet KM-1e is also playing a pivotal role with a specialist application in a niche market. Konica Minolta’s AccurioJet KM-1e prints Tyvek – a material produced by DuPont – for restraint harnesses. UV ink is a key tool to ensure there is no ink leakage if Tyvek gets wet.

“As a multi-skilled company with innovation at its heart, we recognised that remaining with standard presses was not an option” said Massimiliano Martinelli, Chief Executive Officer of Compos Center. “After an exhaustive market search and some intensive discussions, we opted

for the KM-1e technology from Konica Minolta, a company with global expertise in commercial and industrial printing.”

“We have never looked back. Our digital applications demand real personalisation and versioning because every job is different than the last one. And only the AccurioJet KM-1e can deliver to our exacting requirements.”

Stefano Larghi

Chief Executive Officer of Compos Center

Hidetoshi Omo, Head of Center of Competence, KM-1e at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe, said: “Working in close partnership, we have developed a business plan together to rethink possibilities by helping Compos Center to grow volumes, revenues and ignite business opportunities. This is an important step forward for Compos Center and we wish them continued success as they look to create more applications, many of which can only be realised with our world-class LED inkjet technology on the AccurioJet KM-1e production presses.”
