| 26 April 2017

The CO2 emissions reduction targets set by Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) to limit global warming to less than2°Ccompared to pre-industrial temperatures, were approved by the international Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).Konica Minolta has committed itself to the reduction of emissions by 60% from fiscal year 2005 by 2030.

The SBTi was jointly established in 2015 by CDP (formerly “the Carbon Disclosure Project”), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), to attain science-based targets (SBTs) in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and thereby limit global warming to less than 2°C compared to pre-industrial temperatures. Of 212 companies around the world that have declared that they have established SBTs, 38 companies including Konica Minolta received approval for their greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets.

Konica Minolta commits to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions from across its entire value chain by 60% by 2030, from 2005 levels. This is in line with the Konica Minolta long-term Eco Vision 2050, in which the company set clear targets for the reduction of emissions throughout the entire lifecycle of a product.

To ensure the success of Eco Vision 2050, Konica Minolta, in conjunction with its business plan, set specific targets in the areas of Environmental Value and Corporate Value. Additionally, Konica Minolta implemented global measures to help cope with the issue of climate change. Developing energy-saving product designs and solutions, promoting energy conservation and improving production efficiency as well as offering various environmental technologies and know-how all helped to reduce CO2 emissions in all areas through collaboration.
