Konica Minolta awarded “RobecoSAM Gold Class” commendation for sustainability

| 6 March 2018

Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) has been awarded the prestigious RobecoSAM Gold Class 2018 commendation for Corporate Sustainability. In 2018, Konica Minolta was the only company to receive a Gold classification in the Computers & Peripherals and Office Electronics industry.

In 2017, over 3,500 of the world’s leading companies were invited to participate in the RobecoSAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), held by the Swiss-based SRI research specialist. This year’s record number of participating companies clearly demonstrates that sustainability is rising to the top of corporate agendas.

The Sustainability Yearbook profiles the top 15 per cent of the companies from each industry, according to their CSA scores for environmental, social and economical efforts. Out of the listed companies, the Yearbook then awards the leaders according to performance with the Gold, Silver or Bronze Class. Within each industry, the top performing companies, such as Konica Minolta, receive the prestigious RobecoSAM Gold Class award.

For the assessment of companies from the Computers & Peripherals and Office Electronics sector, RobecoSAM focused on criteria comprising economic, environmental and societal factors, such as corporate governance, privacy protection and Supply Chain Management, handling of hazardous substances, operational eco-efficiency and product stewardship, human capital management and talent attraction and retention.

To ensure the success of Eco Vision 2050, Konica Minolta, in conjunction with its business plan, set specific targets in the areas of Environmental Value and Corporate Value.
