Konica Minolta and EFI announced new Fiery DFE for AccurioPress printers

| 1 October 2018

Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe GmbH and Electronics for Imaging (EFI) are to extend their partnership with the announcement of a new EFI™ Fiery® digital front end (DFE) designed to give customers higher performances in printing, as well as advanced job management and make-ready functionalities to streamline production processes.

The new MIC-4160 EFI DFE for Konica Minolta’s monochrome press range is now available for the AccurioPress 6120 and AccurioPress 6136/P black and white digital presses. Using the Fiery DFE helps customers get the most out of their digital printing.

The collaboration between Konica Minolta and EFI was first announced after drupa 2016.

Ines Wennemann said:

The new EFI Fiery MIC-4160 DFE is built on the latest Fiery FS300 Pro platform, is almost 50% faster than previous generations, and it’s the first Fiery server for black-and-white print engines to launch on the new NX One server platform with Fiery QuickTouch™.

The many other features include:

  • Fiery Command WorkStation®, the intuitive, centralized user interface that allows users to manage the monochromatic Konica Minolta AccurioPress 6120/6136/P printers driven by this Fiery DFE along with Fiery DFEs on colorcut-sheet digital presses, wide-format, superwide-format and high-speed inkjet devices in a unified and tightly integrated workflow
  • The new bi-directional communication provides synchronized, real-time paper catalog updates that can be entered from either the press or the Fiery Command WorkStation interface, bringing operational flexibility to users, along with new paper tray assignment tools.
  • Fiery grayscale calibration, an innovative feature that ensures consistent and accurate image reproduction by automatically enhancing shadow details and preserving upper and lower tonal variances
  • The optional Fiery Impose and Fiery JobMaster™, visual makeready tools that streamline complex tasks, giving users more power and flexibility in imposition, tab insertion and design, page-level ticketing, finishing, scanning and late-stage editing

The Fiery MIC-4160 DFE also enables integration into existing production workflows for digital color and offset printing through JDF implementation. This seamlessly connects with automated estimating, scheduling, job ticketing, accounting and other processes managed by EFI’s suite of industry-leading MIS and Web-to-Print products, including EFI’s Quick Print and Midmarket Print Suites and Digital StoreFront® software.
