Konica Minolta and Czechitas go international with DataGirls workshops

| 17 November 2016

Konica Minolta reiterates its social sustainability approach by continuing its support for the NGO Czechitas. Together with the worldwide collaboration network “Impact Hub”, they expand the original Czech project internationally, to inspire more young women and girls to enter the field of IT. Free DataGirls IT workshops will be offered in Germany in December 2016. The project aims to empower women and girls by assisting them in pursuing a career as IT professionals.

After the success of the program in Czech in 2015, Konica Minolta decided to further boost gender diversity in IT by helping the project go international. As a company, Konica Minolta recognises its responsibility not only in the area of business but also to strengthen the status of women in society. Additionally, with the program one of the biggest challenges in the IT sector is proactively targeted: By 2020 an estimated number of 5 Million IT specialists will be missing in the job market which makes programs to find, inspire and support dedicated girls and women essential.

DataGirls in Germany will kick off in Berlin on 1st and 3rd December, followed by Munich on 15th and 17th December taking place at the Impact Hub’s premises. The first meeting will be evening inspirational talks, on the second day the workshops will be conducted. “During the events we do our best to share our long-term professional knowledge and experience with the participants, to spark the same passion and interest we have,” adds André Ziemann, General Manager Service and Support Division from Konica Minolta. The support given by Konica Minolta to Czechitas enables knowledge transfer by providing staff members onsite and by getting in touch with IT experts. Under the following link further details for participation can be found: http://www.meetup.com/czechitas/.

The goal of the program is to give interested girls the possibility and platform to gain insight into the logic and thinking behind the IT world. The free of charge DataGirls workshops in Germany will strive to educate participants on topics like business intelligence, web development, data analysis and graphic design to provide a solid know-how especially to young females, previous experience and social background.
