Next Generation Portable Spectrophotometer with Advanced Functionality and Enhanced Usability

The CM-17d is the successor to the CM-700d portable spectrophotometer, used in many industries for the accurate and traceable measurement of colour.

Customers in many industries can benefit from the innovative features of this new generation of portable spectrophtometer when performing colour quality control or accurately communicating colour, colour tolerances and colour difference with supply chain partners.

The CM-17d improves significantly on its predecessor, offering improved measurement speed, improved repeatability especially on dark and glossy materials and improved Inter Instrument Agreement.

The CM-17d is the first portable instrument to feature the Wavelength Analysis and Adjustment technology introduced with the CM-36dG Benchtop Spectrophotometer. This means that customers with a service agreement protect their device from any shifts in wavelength between calibration intervals, giving peace of mind for the short and medium term accuracy of the colour measurement data.

Features

Features
  • Switchable Dual Measurement Aperture
The CM-17d includes a small (3mm) and medium (8mm) sized measurement aperture, easily switched by the operator as required to best match the sample. Typically the small measurement aperture is used for more curved or structured parts and smaller details, whilst the medium aperture will typically provide more representative and repeatable results. The CM-16d is designed with single medium aperture only.

  • Ergonomic Vertical Orientation
The CM-17d has a vertical orientation like its predecessor the CM-700d facilitating easier measurement of smaller and curved samples when compared to a horizontal orientated device. An angled display and control panel improves the ease of operation and visibility of the measured data.

  • Improved Measurement Speed
The CM-17d has improved processing time, with measurement time reduced by 33% and the interval between measurements reduced by 25%.

  • Camera Viewfinder
The CM-17d includes a camera viewfinder to aid in sample positioning. This offers a significant boost to measure accuracy, particularly for tricky and patterned samples. SpectraMagic™ NX2 Colour Data Software can also save the viewfinder capture for record keeping if necessary.

  • Docking Station
When not in use, the CM-16d/CM-17d can be stored in the charging dock to keep the device battery charged and ready for use. The charging dock also doubles as a zero calibration box and features a protective storage recess for the white calibration tile.

  • Wavelength Analysis and Adjustment

Providing certainty between regularly scheduled maintenance and calibration, the WAA feature checks and compensates for any shift in wavelength each time that the operator performs white calibration.

  • Additional Stability and Flexibility for System Integration
The CM-16d/CM-17d has been designed with a second tripod screw point to greatly improve the possibility for integration with cobots, robots or automated systems. Utilising both mounting points eliminates the risk of any device rotation under use which reduces maintenance requirements and increases potential operation speed.

  • CIE LED Illuminants Included in the Device Firmware
The CM-17d includes The CIE LED Standard Illuminants within the device firmware to expand colour evaluation possibilities to include the most commonly used domestic and commercial lighting tochnology (LED-B1-B5, BH1, RGB1,V1,V2. Using the SpectraMagic™ NX2 Colour Data Software Custom User Illuminants for example those measured on-site with a customer using an illuminance spectrophotometer can be added to the device
