Optimizing the print infrastructure

Institute Hydroproject belongs to the RusHydro PAO group of companies. The company designs hydroelectric and water management facilities and is one of the world’s leading design organisations in the hydroelectricity sector.

Upgrading the print infrastrucutre

Institute Hydroproject’s fleet of printers comprised 115 devices from various vendors, which were predominantly A4-format devices. As part of the optimisation, the company's management decided to fully upgrade the equipment, while at the same time reducing its maintenance and operating costs.

Konica Minolta specialists installed 30 new printers at Institute Hydroproject: 14 full-colour A3 bizhub C250i MFPs, along with bizhub 4052, bizhub C3350i and bizhub 308e MFPs. The devices were equipped with SafeQ hardware and software solutions for automated access control.

Reduced operating costs, simplified processes and high service quality

Outsourcing its printing solutions has resulted in much simpler processes in terms of planning the procurement of consumables and the infrastructure support budget: all information used to calculate requirements and to assess costs has now become fully transparent. This means that printing costs have become more predictable over the long term. "Historically, many companies have created their printing infrastructures somewhat chaotically: MFP purchases were made at different times, with individual departments sometimes choosing which device to purchase. As a result, it is difficult to centrally manage printing processes and control and minimise costs at an organisational level. We were able to achieve this by implementing an integrated printing optimisation solution", says Yulia Gagkueva, Project Manager at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Russia. "As a result of the project, we managed to reduce the number of printers at Institute Hydroproject to almost a quarter of the previous fleet without any loss of performance or service quality—and this is an excellent result".
