For Color and Appearance

Digitization in the graphic arts industries such as printing and design have expanded in recent years. Today the numerical control of colour for printed materials from printers and printing presses increasingly rely on instrumentation based on various norms established by ISO.

Furthermore, former classic Densitometers have been substituted by spectral-densitometers allowing not only the evaluation of densitometric values, such as density, status T/E, dot size or dot gain but also colour values such as L*a*b* and other important colourmetric values. This is especially vital for ink and packaging manufacturers to precisely match spot colours (colours of brand owners).

In the field of formulation of inks, classic sphere type spectrophotometers, either portable or bench-top models, are used in combination with formulation software such as Colibri®.

For Light & Display

Same as in all industries where colour is an important quality aspect, precise assessment of viewing conditions, based on actual ambient light, is vital. Respectively, in the printing industry viewing booths as well as display of monitors have to be adjusted and controlled by adequate instruments.
