Konica Minolta acquires its Turkish distributor Transteknik Teknoloji A.S.
Langenhagen, Germany, 17 February 2012
Today, Konica Minolta announced the acquisition of its Turkish distributor, Transteknik Teknoloji A.S. The Istanbul-based distributor of IT, printing and office technologies will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Konica Minolta. The company will trade as Konica Minolta Business Teknoloji Turkey A.S. (tentative) after the completion of relevant registration processes.
Transteknik Teknoloji A.S., founded in 1970, already had a long relationship with Konica Minolta and a long-standing tradition of representing large manufacturers of IT and office automation equipment in Turkey. In 1970, the company imported the first copier to the Turkish market, and Transteknik Teknoloji A.S. has been a distributor of Konica Minolta office products since 1981. Transteknik Teknoloji A.S. trades in IT equipment, printing and office technologies of ten international manufacturers and is known for its outstanding after sales services. The company has a strong network of powerful business partners, three mega-dealers and 30 dealers all over Turkey.
From April onwards, Transteknik Teknoloji A.S. will be fully owned by Konica Minolta and becomes Konica Minolta Business Teknoloji Turkey A.S. "This undertaking was a professional decision of both parties to make Konica Minolta much more visible in the growing market of Turkey", says Metin Isler, president of Transteknik Teknoloji A.S. The target for this acquisition by Konica Minolta is to strengthen its position in the Turkish market and to give the "new" company an opportunity to significantly grow the business in Turkey in the years ahead – all in order to reach high market penetration such as Konica Minolta has achieved in other European countries.
"We can build our common future on a long lasting and very successful partnership," says Gürsel Ak, new president of Konica Minolta Business Teknoloji Turkey A.S. "And we are confident that this change will help us in a very challenging market to reach out for new customers. Today’s customer requirements are shifting towards total office solutions in combination with excellent service capabilities. With the new company, customers in Turkey can be served more comprehensively."
The President of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe, Ken Osuga, states: "Turkey is the fastest growing economy in Europe. We are confident that with this acquisition we have founded an even stronger base for our activities in the Turkish market. With the leadership of Mr. Ak for our Turkish operations, we have the right person in place to achieve our ambitious goals for growth and customer satisfaction. Our partners and employees will also benefit from our new and strong organisation."
